The  GP Plus service is a primary care mental health service, embedded in Primary Care Networks (PCNs  to provide local and timely;

 

·       mental health advice and information

·       brief interventions within the local community.

·       appropriate signposting to other organisations/services

 

 

GP Plus service is intended to offer a local service for individuals aged 18 years and older with a moderate mental health problem for whom a ‘routine’ referral to secondary care mental health services through SPA would previously have been made. The GP Plus practitioner will triage referred primary care patients who presented in primary care with specialist non-urgent/crisis mental health needs. The

 

In line with the NHS Long Term Plan GP Plus recognises that placing specialist mental health staff within GP practices promotes early assessment, treatment and/or onward referral. The service is recovery focused, is in the best interests of the patient and operates in line with the aims of PCNs.
